Carolyn Dorman Allen

We lived in the Kansas City area except one year when Art's company assigned him as Resident Engineer constructing a coal-powered electric generating plant in Vernal, Utah. We designed and built our home in Lake Winnebago, MO, in 1979-80 and lived there until 2003. After Art's retirement we formed AC Consulting Partnership and did engineering consulting for the firm in Kansas where he had worked the last 13 years before retirement. Our younger daughter, Kitt, lives in the Minneapolis area and asked us to relocate to Victoria, MN. She was expecting twins and wanted to continue her art career and "thought she might need a little help." We stayed in Minnesota until the twins started school full time. Minnesota is beautiful, but the winters are too long. We packed our belongings and moved to Arizona's Valley of the Sun. We chose a golf course community to be able to see green grass when we look out our back windows or sit on the patio. We play recreational golf (that means we're not required to keep score or even talk about it if we choose not to). Have met and played golf with people from all over the world. This past year we realized we missed the grandchildren too much, so we now have a condo in Chaska, MN, to have a residence for the summer months to avoid 116 degrees in Arizona and to have time with the girls while they are out of school. Our older daughter, Sheryl, resides in Harrisonville, MO, and is a licensed insurance agent there.

Looking back, we realize what a treasure the Southeast experience has been. Teachers and staff were respected and they provided an excellent learning environment. Football games were great, and the American Royal Parade was an annual highlight. Good times.
